Berner Zeitung: Sensors on your feet, on the lens and in your pocket

Berner Zeitung explores ETH research into wearable sensors — early work that informs today's antavi crowd sensing platform.

Berner Zeitung dedicates a feature to wearable sensors in shoes, glasses and pockets — and to the question of how a reliable picture of movement and activity emerges from these unobtrusive components. The research takes place at the Wearable Computing Lab of ETH Zürich, from which antavi emerged.

The article makes vivid how different sensor sources are combined to achieve robust activity recognition. This methodology forms the core of the crowd sensing with which antavi today supports organisers and security forces.
