PCtipp: ETH releases app for Züri Fäscht

PCtipp reports on the ETH research app for Züri Fäscht 2013 — early work that informs today's antavi crowd sensing platform.

PCtipp introduces the Züri Fäscht app from ETH Zürich — a research app that collects voluntary data donations from festival visitors to produce a picture of visitor density. From this methodology antavi later emerged.

The article explains how, alongside programme information, the app processes movement data in anonymised form. For research, Züri Fäscht 2013 provided a unique real-world laboratory; for organisers and emergency services, a first operational picture grounded in crowd sensing.
